چکیده
Proc (Bayl Univ Med Cent) 2012;25(2):159–160 A n obese (height, 62 inches; weight, 252 lb; body mass index, 46.2 kg/m2) 54-year-old woman with longstanding asthma and chronic cigarette smoking came to the hospital with an acute asthma attack manifested by dyspnea, wheezing, and chest tightness. Her electrocardiogram showed an irregular atrial tachycardia (114 P waves/minute) with multiple P-wave morphologies, frequent aberrant ventricular conduction, and one nonconducted P wave (Figure). Th us, the patient had multifocal atrial tachycardia, also called chaotic atrial mechanism (1), chaotic atrial tachycardia (2), or chaotic atrial rhythm (3). As the name implies, multifocal atrial tachycardia has generally been thought to originate from multiple atrial foci, but because variable conduction of impulses from a single focus cannot be excluded, the mechanistically noncommittal term multiform atrial tachycardia has been suggested (4). Initial documented rhythm as a predictor of survivalto-discharge rate after in-hospital cardiac arrest in a tertiary care referral institute, South India: an observational study
Objective: Survival-to-discharge rates following in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) patients remain significantly low. The use of initial documented cardiac rhythm as predictor of Survival-to-discharge is still unclear. This study aimed to assess whether the initial documented rhythm can be used as a predictor of survival-to-discharge following IHCA in an emergency department of the tertiary car...
متن کاملThe controllability of cardiac rhythm in elderly
Introduction: Recent reports have shown that rare fluctuations in cardiac cycles are ‘forgotten’ quickly in healthy individuals and it is possible to quantify the “memory length” of a physiological time-series using an inverse statistical approach. Methods: In the present study, we assessed the effect of aging on memory length in cardiac rhythm. Results: There was a long...

متن کاملAn Irregular Wide Complex Tachycardia.
A 66-year-old woman with a history of hypertension and persistent atrial fibrillation was referred to the Arrhythmia Clinic. Before her visit, a routine 12-lead ECG was ordered (Figure 1). The patient was asymptomatic except for minor palpitations. Her medicine regimen included apixaban, flecainide 150 mg twice daily, lisinopril, loratadine, metoprolol, and simvastatin. What is the cardiac rhyt...
متن کاملA Study of Cerebral Performance Categories Based on Initial Rhythm and Resuscitation Time Following In-Hospital Cardiac Arrest in a State Hospital in Turkey
Background: The cerebral performance category (CPC) score is widely used in research and quality assurance to assess neurologic outcome following cardiac arrest. However, little is known about the results of the CPC in Turkey. Objective: This study aimed to determine whether the CPC is associated with the initial rhythm and resuscitation time following re...
